In children our goal is to diagnose problems at the earliest possible stage. We look for proper development of all the structures of the face, mouth and teeth, paying particular attention to airway problems which can affect correct facial growth. We also monitor oral care habits and help maintain the health of gum tissues. This is especially important in minimizing the amount of bacteria that enters the bloodstream, which boosts the immune system. This allows your child to stay healthier.

 

For adults, we thoroughly examine the gums for any signs of periodontal disease, which harms the immune system by releasing bacteria into the bloodstream. We conduct a magnified examination of the teeth and existing restorations to aid in the earliest detection of problems, such as breakage, fractures, decay, failing restorations, ill-fitting restorations, excessive tooth wear and malocclusions that may affect both function and appearance. True to our commitment to overall health, the examination goes beyond just teeth and gums. We also look at the tissues of the face and neck for any visible signs of abnormalities, which may be cancer or a cancerous precursor. TMJ is examined as well; we carefully scrutinize the associated muscles for signs of dysfunction that are linked to symptoms such as migraines, headaches, ringing in the ears, sore jaw muscles, sensitive teeth, excessive tooth wear, head pain, neck pain, back pain, and  possibly even foot pain.
