Perfection - Cosmetic Dentistry

Smile Makeover

The smile is one of the most noticeable features on the face, and even a beautiful face can instantly turn unattractive when a smile reveals stained, chipped, or crooked teeth. Smiling is our way of making others feel comfortable. A great smile results in a great first impression.

If you're looking for a whiter, straighter, more sparkling smile, we can give you the smile of your dreams through a combination of cosmetic dentistry procedures, including porcelain veneers, tooth bonding, porcelain crowns, and teeth whitening.

Crowns or Caps

When a tooth has been adversely affected, by decay or fracture to the point where restoration with a filling will compromise the strength of the tooth, by large or marginal decay, or by root canal therapy, a crown is the method used to correct these situations. A crown covers and protects the tooth, is placed over the weakened tooth structure, seals out plaque and bacteria and restores the shape and strength to the tooth. This covering will protect the remaining tooth from forces placed on that tooth when chewing and grinding of the teeth.

Crowns can be made of different materials. They are either all ceramic, porcelain with a metallic substructure, or all metallic.

All ceramic crowns can be made of all porcelain or porcelain with a ceramic substructure. All ceramic crowns are the most cosmetically pleasing of the crowns. We can now offer a new, high strength, all ceramic crown for those situations that previously were restored with metallic crowns. Patients who clench or grind their teeth, don’t have to compromise esthetics for strength!

Crowns made of porcelain with a metallic substructure are used because of their strength. They are being used less and less due to the fact that they will often leave the gum around the tooth with a darkened appearance. We now offer all ceramic crowns that are of equal strength and do not darken the appearance of the surrounding gum tissue.

All metal crowns are used where strength is critical. Areas such as the very back teeth or people who grind their teeth often would fracture porcelain crowns. Gold is used to prevent this fracture.

Implants, Implant Bridges and Implant-supported Dentures

Dental implants offer several advantages over other tooth replacement options. There is no need to alter the adjacent teeth. Implants feel secure and look natural. Implants will replace the missing tooth roots and preserve your jaw bone, which also helps to support the natural facial contours.

Implant-supported bridges do not require support from adjacent natural teeth. Fixed bridges or removable partial dentures do nothing to stop the gums and bone around them from receding, resulting in a collapsed, unattractive smile.

Implant-supported dentures “snap” into place and give you the security you need! They can be a very wonderful alternative to removable partials or removable partial dentures as well as full dentures.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a customizable and durable method of correcting your smile. It can resolve a variety of dental problems, including chipped, cracked, stained, gapped, or disfigured teeth. They are ultra-thin layers of porcelain that fit over your teeth, and the color is custom-fit to give you the spectacular smile you desire.

Bonding

Bonding is a quick way to correct smaller dental problems, such as chips, cavities, stains, slight crookedness and small gaps in your teeth. Tooth bonding material is a composite of plastics and dental resins that come in a variety of shades to match your natural color. Many opt to have their teeth whitened first, so that the shade of the bonding material matches their new dazzling smile.

White Fillings

If you desire a natural-looking restoration to fill a cavity, white fillings are preferred over silver amalgam fillings. There are many advantages to choosing white, or composite, fillings. While white fillings maintain the original strength of the tooth by bonding to it, silver fillings weaken the tooth, making it more susceptible to breaking. White fillings are also mercury-free and require less removal of tooth structure, since they can flow into smaller spaces.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are used to replace silver and composite fillings. These restorations are usually made from composite resin material, porcelain, or gold. They look like the rest of your tooth, making them virtually undetectable in the mouth. Inlays are best for smaller restorations, while onlays are ideal for larger ones. By conserving much of your natural tooth structure, they preserve the tooth's natural strength and usually preserve the natural tooth margin around the gum area.

Implants

Missing teeth can be a social and psychological burden. Dental implants are one of the best alternatives to natural teeth. By looking and functioning just like your natural teeth, implants can restore self-confidence and peace of mind.

Invisalign (R)

Perhaps the biggest deterrent to straightening your teeth with traditional braces is their awkward and unappealing metallic appearance. Invisalign is an alternative to braces that is virtually undetectable to others.

Instead of metal and wires, which can be painful in the mouth, Invisalign uses clear, customized components called aligners. With no metal wires you need fewer office visits getting adjustments.

Teeth Whitening

Dingy, discolored teeth can dull even the biggest smile. Because a smile is one of the first things others notice, you want it to be as bright and white as possible. We will guide you through the different teeth whitening options available to help you achieve the immaculate smile of your dreams. Nothing makes you look your best like a white smile!

In office procedures for whitening are Advanced Power Zoom Whitening and Deep Bleaching. (Zoom info from web) Deep Bleaching is the most effective technique for whitening teeth. It is the ONLY recognized bleaching technique that will even whiten tetracycline stained teeth in a short period of time (previously thought to be impossible to whiten)! Deep Bleaching whitens teeth dramatically, often 16 shades or more! Although everyone is different, with proper Deep Bleaching technique, all teeth will have remarkable results.
